ABC Classic 100 Rankings: 2001 to 2021

Every year since 2001, ABC Classic FM has run a Classic 100 event, where listeners vote on their favourite pieces.

This page visualises the rankings for three different years:

• The Original Classic 100 from 2001,
• Classic 100 10 Years on from 2010, and
• Music you can't live without from 2021

Each dot represents a piece of music.

The lines track how the rankings for that piece have changed between 2001 and 2021.

You can click or tap on a dot to highlight that piece and show detailed information.

Other pieces by the same composer will also highlight in a lighter shade.

My favourite observation from this visualisation is that 'The Lark Ascending' started high in the rankings (#2) in 2001, descended in 2010, before ascending again in 2021.

About me

My name is Alex and I live in Nipaluna / Hobart.

I don't often vote in the Classic 100, but if I did my favourite piece would probably be "La Follia", by Vivaldi. I don't take it personally that it didn't make it in to this dataset.
